The Start of a Tradition

There used to be a bakery in Tehran, with a famous chocolate cake, it was moist, soft, and delicious. We had a little tradition in the family, which was buying and eating this cake for any (literally any!) big or small occasion. The cake was simple, and the design was the same for as long as we could remember.

After moving to Canada, we tried different cakes, yet we were not satisfied with the flavours, and it just didn’t work for us.

So, we decided to create our own chocolate cake and start another tradition of having the same chocolate cake over and over for every special or non-special occasion.

The result of trying different recipes, changing ratios, changing ingredients, trying far too many varieties of cocoa powder has turned to be our family favourite Chocolate Velvet Cake!

Our Chocolate Velvet Cake is sweet, but not too sweet, so you can easily go for a second or a third slice and not feel overwhelmed with sweetness. It is light and airy because we use our homemade chocolate whipped cream, and the sponge is light like a pillow. It is soft (hence the name) and it melts in your mouth.

It goes perfectly with a cup of tea, a cup of coffee, or even with a glass of milk.

This cake has two airy and moist layers of chocolate cake sponge. There is a generous amount of chocolate whipped cream in the middle and it is topped and coated with chocolate whipped cream as well.

Another good thing about this cake, is that it can be designed based on what you like better. You may go with our signature design which has the piping on the edge, and the ganache on the top. Or you can go with berries on the top. You may choose to have a variety of mini chocolate bars or fill it with white chocolate chunks.

 You can’t really go wrong with any of them, as they will only compliment the flavour even more.
